checked off: #13!

goal #13 on my list is to decorate our forever home to reflect both my husband & i perfectly.
well. here's the thing.
'forever' is such a long time, right? and when you're 24 years old and creating a list of things to achieve before you're 30, you don't really realize how quickly things can change, and that 'forever' isn't very realistic at that age, necessarily. so, now 4 years later, we're moving out of the home we originally thought might be our forever home - luckily, we're moving to a house that we may love even a little bit more (didn't think that was possible), and starting a new adventure. so, in honor of this new adventure, i am still checking this goal off of my list because it's my list and i can do that.

we listed our house on tuesday morning, and i was really happy to get these pictures of the house to keep forever. as much as we will miss this house, we're both so, so excited to get to settle in to the new house (new city...new state!). this house in austin was the first home we bought together, and where we brought luca home to. but, our new house will be the first one that he remembers, and we can't wait to make it feel like home.

bye, austin house! we will miss you.

(there used to be a really cool, big world map on the wall in the dining room below but we took it down for the purposes of listing the house)

backyard goodness

it was almost exactly one year ago that the husband & i finished working on our backyard at our previous house and it's strange to think about the fact that we've moved on to fix up the backyard in our forever home. and by strange, i do of course mean wonderful.
we try to spend lots of time outside and love hosting parties so i'm itching to get started on creating an environment like we had before. except this time around, we have about 6 times the space to fill up - that can be good and bad.
we found our last backyard chandelier in warrenton last year but unfortunately had no luck finding one during this year's trip. so we've been watching craigslist for a spray paint-able gem & are dusting off our packed up lanterns and seat cushions.

these are some images that have been inspiring me to get some lights strung, a pergola built & some sangria in the backyard:

weekends were made for...

this weekend, the husband & i went on our annual trip to warrenton, tx to walk miles & miles at their antique festival in hopes of finding one or two treasures. this time around, we found three! (more on those later)
we've gone to warrenton for the past three years (i think) with his parents, and every year we get a little bit better at searching for things. or, if you're my husband, you get better at becoming the fastest-ever antique shopper. he looks in a "shop" for approximately .23 seconds and decides it's time to move on, whereas i'm more the "i-need-to-touch-and-inspect-everything" type of shopper.

we calculated that we walked several miles that day, and got more than one awkward tan line (me) and sunburn (him) - but it was worth it! we came home absolutely exhausted and as much as we wanted to spend sunday relaxing and letting our feet rest on the couch with a beer, we opted for spending six (SIX) hours in the yard with my wonderful in-laws, and raking up fifty (FIFTY) bags of leaves instead.
we planted daisies, ferns, climbing ivy, hung some cute little flowers, raked up the entire back yard and cleared out a very messy, enormous flower bed.

we apparently don't believe in relaxing easter weekends around here, but that's just the way i like it.

raising the bar

since we are a mere three weeks from moving in to our new home (eep!), we've been selling things like crazy on craigslist that will no longer fit the style we're going for, which means our house is getting emptier and emptier. it's kind of a nice feeling to de-clutter and purge a little bit, but...we're not left with very much!
this means that i've been window shopping and trying to picture what our new style will be in the new place.
one of the things that the husband & i both love equally is the wet bar, you can see it a little bit on the left side in the picture below.

we don't have a designated place for our liquor or barware in our current home, which is a bit inconvenient since we love to entertain. so we've both been daydreaming of making this little nook look just perfect. here are some images that i've loved lately.

my dad has always had a huge, wall-sized map in his home with pins in places that he's been.
i've always wanted one too-

perfectly rustic-

looking back at this post, it seems like all of these rooms/homes have an international flair, no?
i think most of them fit perfectly in paris, spain, maybe italy?

images that inspire {design}

this week's images that inspire are all focused on design. i've found myself house hunting lately, knowing damn well that we have at the very least one year until we move, but mostly just enjoying the daydreaming aspect of redecorating a home in my head.
these are some of the images that i've had in mind when my daydreams take over:

this is all from one amazing, simplistic home:
